LDS Tours in Tulum City of Zion | LDS Tours in Cancun

Built on the coastal plain of the state of Quintana Roo, Cancun to 1:20 minutes and 45 minutes from Playa del Carmen, Tulum is a walled archaeological site of the Mayan civilization that does amaze all visitors because of its incomparable beauty. No doubt the structures that make this place are awesome and give us different feelings of peace and tranquility.

For the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the ceremonial center of Tulum , identified before its discovery by the name Zama, on June 25, 1842, Speaking of John Lloyd Stephens and Frederick Catherwood, Joseph Smith wrote the following in his personal journal: “Messrs. Stephens and Catherwood have succeeded in collecting in the interior of America a large amount of relics of the Nephites, or the ancient inhabitants of America treated of in the Book of Mormon, which relics have recently been landed in New York.” (Joseph Smith, History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7 vols [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1980]., 5:44) By Joseph Smith Joseph. The ancient people of Zama could have knowledge of Jesus Christ during his visit to America. Within this ancient temple, which provides evidence of the history of the Lamanites and brings us closer to learning of love and truth.

“It will not be a bad plan to compare Mr. Stephens’ ruined cities with those in the Book of Mormon: light cleaves to light, and facts are supported by facts. The truth injures no one.” (Times and Seasons, October 1, 1842, 927)

Tulum was built as a fortress city overlooking the Caribbean.

Perhaps at Tulum you’ll be surprised to see Zama a maya city, Book of Mormon like Setting Perched as a Light House on the Shore The important structures here include the Castillo, a former temple and the Temple of the Frescos with 13th Century wall painting this is the “Garden Tomb” of Book of Mormon Lands for us. Here we find a depiction of a woman giving birth to an “upside down” God. At the Temple of the Frescos, we see a depiction of “laying on of hands” on one of the frescos. You will see hands that are symbolically giving a blessing. The highlight is to see a three-panel series on the three tiered temple. The Center Panel Shows an Upright God, (We simply testify of God the Father). The Left Hand Side Depicts an Upside down God, (We suggest the imagery of the Son of God, coming down to earth). The Third Panel Is Blank, (We just propose, it could represent the Holy Ghost, because he has no body).
As the sun begins to shine in the morning at Tulum site, we take some quiet time to read 3rd Nephi and clearly visualize the Father announcing his Son, Jesus, whom he has sent down to minister and teach his gospel. Many Book of Mormon historical events are associated with the land generally referred to as the “land northward”. That is the name given to the area that was the heartland of the ancient Jaredites. The Mulekites landed in the land northward. The Nephites lived in the land northward during a portion of their thousand-year history. The last battles recorded in the Book of Mormon were fought in the land northward. The Nephites called the land northward “Desolation.” And the land northward was separated from the land southward by a narrow neck of land.

By the sheer number of references, one of the most dominant geographical locations in the Book of Mormon is the land northward. It played a central role in the lives of all the New World people mentioned in the Book of Mormon—that is, the Jaredites, Mulekites, Nephites, and Lamanites.”It’s a fascinating learning experience,” with Alma’s LDS Tours.
“We go to archeological sites and talk about why we think the Book of Mormon took place there.”
