Itinerary

1. 1st Day: Arrival Day
2. Arrival Day: Arrival at Cancun International Airport and transfer to a hotel in the Riviera Maya to rest and prepare for the start of the journey (Enjoy the beach if you arrive early). We include the hotel and the transfer to the hotel.
3. 2nd Day: Dzibanche and Kohunlich Tour.
4. We will leave the Riviera Maya early after breakfast and head to the archaeological sites of Dzibanche (a place proposed by many LDS scholars as Bountiful from the Book of Mormon) and Kohunlich. These sites are surrounded by jungle with wildlife all around.

9. Head west toward Escárcega, Campeche

13. 3rd Day: Palenque and Misol-Ha Waterfalls Tour.
14. In Palenque we will see Pakal's tomb and the "And it came to pass" glyph and more. This is one of the most magnificent sites in the entire area! You will be amazed by the view and the natural beauty.
15. Palenque is surrounded by forest and mysticism; it is one of the most intriguing archaeological sites in the country and is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
16. When driving toward Palenque, travelers see an abandoned city, a city that does not appear to have ever been inhabited by human beings. They see pyramids and plazas covered by wilderness over a thousand years ago. The even treetops embrace the pyramids, which show their moss-covered peaks.
17. The true name of the ancient city of Palenque is Lakamha, which translates as "Big Water". However, the archaeological zone eventually took its name from the neighboring community founded toward the end of the 16th century, Santo Domingo de Palenque. Palenque means "Stake", referring to a wooden circle built to protect the site.

26. 4th Day: Bonampak and Yaxchilan Mayan Ruins Tour.
27. Visit one of the most artistically emblematic archaeological cities in the Mayan world, Bonampak and Yaxchilán. Bonampak is considered the Sistine Chapel of the Mayans because of the beauty and art found in the murals on the walls of the main buildings. We will also visit a site along the riverbeds, Yaxchilán, which we will have to reach by boat ride across the Usumacinta River between Mexico and Guatemala, and explore this incredible site.

35. 5th Day: Agua Azul Waterfalls and San Cristobal Tour.
36. We will experience the natural wonder of one of Mexico's most spectacular waterfalls, "Agua Azul", and we will arrive at the charming city of San Cristóbal de las Casas. We will visit the downtown area and tour the Jade and Amber Museum. We will spend the night in San Cristóbal de las Casas, a Franco-Spanish colonial town.

40. Departure to San Cristóbal de las Casas
41. Visit the downtown area, the Jade Museum and the Amber Museum. Free time to enjoy the beautiful downtown of San Cristóbal de las Casas.

44. 6th Day: Sumidero Grand Canyon and Tuxtla LDS Temple.
45. We will enjoy a boat tour through the magnificent "Sumidero", Mexico's Grand Canyon but carved by thousands of years of water erosion. We will enjoy lunch at a famous local Mexican restaurant in the capital city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez and visit the region's LDS Temple.
46. Breakfast
47. Departure to El Sumidero
48. 2-hour boat tour through the river's wildlife and flora
49. Lunch
50. Visit the grounds of the LDS Temple
51. Return to the city of San Cristóbal and enjoy the rest of the afternoon (Free time)
52. Dinner
53. 7th Day: San Cristobal Sightseeing and San Juan de Chamula Town Tour
54. On this day we will enjoy a fascinating tour of the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas, a colonial town with beautiful cobblestone streets, ancient Spanish architecture and a lot of tradition. Afterwards, we will head to one of the last Mayan communities in the area and witness the fusion of ancient and modern culture integrated into today's society. We will visit the San Juan Plaza and Church and observe live ceremonies and neo-Mayan rituals performed inside the building. A fantastic day accompanied by a fascinating lecture from our guide. We will return to our hotel in San Cristóbal to enjoy the afternoon and visit the many shops that sell local handicrafts and jewelry.
55. 8th Day: La Venta Olmec Museum.
56. Early morning departure to our next location, Villahermosa, where we will enjoy the history of the Olmec culture, which is compared with the Jaredites. We will visit the Museum where the primary findings of this ancient civilization are preserved.
57. Early breakfast and departure
58. Departure toward Villahermosa
59. Visit the La Venta archaeological site

61. Arrival in Villahermosa

65. 9th Day: Travel Day back to the Riviera Maya.
66. Departure back to the Yucatán Peninsula to fly out the following day. Arrival at the Riviera Maya with time to enjoy the 5th Avenue downtown area.
